Work can seem monotonous. You wake up at the same time, you do the same work and then tomorrow, it’s more of the same. To break up your workday, try these five ideas to introduce a little more fun into your workplace.
- Have Fun with Your Workwear
From “casual Friday” to a full-themed dress-up day, the fun level of your workplace will double when employees are dressing outside the norm. If you’re looking to start easy, start with casual Friday where team members are allowed to wear athleisure or more casual clothes. You could also pick dress-up themes that nearly everyone can participate in easily like hat day, pattern day, sports day, favorite color day, etc.
Or if your office really wants to go the extra mile, style your hair and pull the costumes out! Some of our favorite themes include “Dress Like Your Favorite TV Character”, cowboy day, tie-dye day, and wig day. To take it a step further, have everyone in the office submit theme ideas. Then draw one out of the hat each week! Clients will love seeing what your team is wearing and employees will love being able to wear something fun.
- Redesign Your Office Space
Even some small cosmetic changes to your home office or workplace can bring a smile to your face. Bring in some photos of your loved ones or some personal items that make you feel at home. If your office allows, work with someone like Key Interiors to complete a full office redesign. When you’re happy with the space you’re working in, it makes work a lot easier.
- Surprise Employees
From gifts to events, a good surprise is always welcome! Try bringing in small gifts to celebrate holidays like candy for Valentine’s Day or ornaments for Christmas. Or go big! Take your team out to a brewery or winery for the afternoon. Give them gift cards to a local restaurant so they can have a fun night out on the business. Present them with a handwritten note letting them know how much you appreciate them or sneak a little bonus into their paycheck.
- Reach Their Heart Through Their Stomach
Who doesn’t enjoy free food? At almost any moment in the day, a little snack or meal can brighten someone’s day. The food itself can bring smiles to your coworkers, but it also presents an opportunity for team bonding. If your business can afford it, we suggest having a weekly or monthly lunch. You can support other local businesses while letting your team enjoy a free lunch together. On a smaller scale, surprise the office with bagels, pastries, or cupcakes on occasion! Even a little thought will go a long way.
- Challenge a Coworker or Your Entire Office
Competition can equal fun and lucky for you, you can compete on almost anything. If you’re looking to bond with a coworker or have some fun throughout the day, challenge them to a game of hangman or tic-tac-toe. You can play throughout the day when you need a brain break. If you want to challenge your entire office, you can always participate in March Madness, a walking challenge, or a weight loss challenge.
Try some of these ideas out at your office and see what your team likes! You can always be the catalyst to have a little more fun at your workplace.
