How Does She Get Her Look? Cassie Ventura

And, no! It doesn't have anything with her being half Asian. Cassie Ventura sprays bullets all over these other celebrities when it comes to hair. Beyonce could hire the best Hibiscus-and-Coconut-Milk fed Indian women on the planet to make her the most luxurious Remy wig and her head still couldn't hold a torch to Cassie's.
Soft, straight with a slight bump and a curl at her ends? Maybe in a trumped-up Bouffant?

Either way, she keeps everyone guessing what she going to do with it next.

So, what exactly gives Cassie that extra-extra to reign? That jet black color and flossy shine.

You can get Cassie's color without having to dye-fry your hair. Try an organic, vegan, natural hair dye.

Heffa! Don't you suck you're teeth at me or roll your eyes! I am VERY serious!

Natural herbs have been used for centuries to treat
common hair ailments and dye hair . Look in ancient text, such as the Koran and the Bible and you will find old beauty practices conducted with nothing more than what grows from the ground.
If you want to dye your hair to Cassie's shade without the harsh chemicals, use Henna or Indigo powders. All those many of us have heard of using Henna and other herbal powders but we often think of Hippies mixing concoctions and singing songs about their long flowing hair and, let's be honest--that thought is just plain frightening. You have to add the coffee grounds just the right way; have the right amount of organic oils; let it steep for a couple of days. You certainly don't want to mix the powders the wrong way and end up with a result that is so horrendous you'd have to take that walk of shame down to the salon and explain what you did to your hair.

A European company called Avea created a certified organic beauty and personal care line, Logona. Logona just so happen to have a hair coloring product made completely of Henna and its accompanying powders all mixed into one easy package. No ammonia. No fuss and no muss. Perfect color without all the breakage.

If you visit the website, there you will find a color chart to compare your current color to it's possible outcome.

Hey! Here's a little something extra you may not know about Henna: it can strengthen your hair and make it glossy, healthier and more voluminous. You can apply neutral Henna to your hair as a Reconstructor.
You can order both or these products and any of the other hair color creams by this brand from here.

I personally would like to try this product, especially after having a bad experience with Bigen powder. Bigen does not strengthen your hair and its in no way organic. I also heard the Bigen powder dyes really should not be used on hair after recently receiving a touch-up. I forgot the reasons why, but I will do research on the product and post it here.

If you already have hair that is colored and want a more holistic way to retain your color longer, I've listen some more products you can try, such as pomades and shampoos.

YOU B*TCH! YOU TOOK MY HAIR DO: HALLE STEALS MY SHORT CURLY BOB

Ya, know... I try to be honest. I try to share my fabulousness with the public and the world know that how I achieve my favorite hairdos. I'm not shy about posting photos of myself, because if I don't post photos of how I achieve my gorgeous mane, then how will you all know what to do? But, this b*tch takes the cake! Did you really have to cyber-stalk me and steal my curly bob. You are a ruthless wench Halle. First, you take my body (there's only room for one thin caramel-complected, pug-nose black bombshell), then you take my man ( don't act like you don't know I'm talking about Michael Ealy), and now... MY HAIR?

I've been wearing the curly bob everyday since December of 2007. See? (photos below)

Who Made It Rain in '07

This year, 2007, was the year of umbrellas. No, we're not for the bad weather, but the constant saturation of stylish celebrity hair. Everywhere you turned was hair inspiration, and the competition was so stiff that I could hardly decide who was the Queen of the perfect 'do. Today, I count down the cream of the crop and you can let me know in the comment box your thoughts. Also, if you didn't see your fave hair fashion on the list, tell me about it below.

Hairvolution: Keyshia Cole

I'm sure you all remember crooner, Keyshia Cole, when she first came unto the scene. This Los Angeles-native was a little rough around the edges, to say the very least. With the large tattoos and the cutoffs shorts, I wasn't sure how society was going to accept her. My first thought when I saw her in the "I Changed My Mind" video was another hood girl with a one-hit wonder...when will good soul music be back?
Then, I gave Miss Cole's another chance and purchased her CD. Two years later, I still cannot put her CD down. The only tracks I don't like off of her The Way It Is is "Situation" and the way and "Superstar," but the rest is ol' school Solid Gold.
People latched unto Keyshia, like flies to light bulb, because of her brutal honesty. Every track on her CD sounds as if Keyshia is speaking personally to you, reminding you to keep your head up and not let the pitfalls of love affect your future success.
Fall of 2007 mark the release of her sophomore disc, Just Like You, where Cole takes you out of the neighborhood and into a whole new sound of soul. Soft. Melodic. Romantic and sweet.
Her reality show just aired its second-season premiere episode, Keyshia Cole:The Way It Is on BET, solidifying its stance as one of the network's most-watched shows.
Since Keyshia has come up into new money--living lavish in the suburbs of Atlanta, GA.--her style has changed. She went from urban ruffian to sophisticated princess. After all, only Keyshia is seriously the only one who would be willing to attempt the two-toned feathered, died and schallack'd-to-the-side hair look (except Cruella De Ville).
Now rocking the long digits in her bank account, her failed relationship with Young Jeezy isn't the only thing she has left in the past. Lets look at Cole's Hairvolution: Where she came from and where's she's at.

Natural is the NEW kid on the Block.

Nappy. Kinky. Picky. Hard. Ugly. These were all common epitaphs used to describe the "hideousness" of black woman's hair texture. I remember the days of sitting between my mother's legs as she furious snatched comb through the mass of strands and slathering grease unto the scalp. Grumbling the whole time, she complained of the toughness of maintaining my thick shapeless blob of tresses. I remembered being heckled incessantly by friends and family when I was less than four weeks from my "touch-up" time. I remembered burning myself on the neck, ears and sometimes face, trying to get those little naps in at the edges of my hairline. My friends choose Dominican Blowouts in their coif-arsenal, but had the driest damaged stresses on the block. I got relaxers and was always over processed. Didn't matter if we were leaving little broken hairs on the street sidewalks, like breadcrumbs to find our way home--It had to be STRAIGHT!

Now, kinks and curls are the new "waves". Once reserved for the Afrocentric, Neo-soul college crowd or biracial women, more and more fresh, young teens are leaving the hot combs behind and accepting their god-given texture instead of hiding them. This year, we have been bombarded with weaves; the good, the bad, and the mediocre. The beauty industry is now becoming more in-tuned with black women's natural curls, offering products, book and websites dedicated to transitioning and post-transition shock. No longer is wearing non-straight hair a symbol of anger or a tell-tale sign of racial mixing, but is a steady and growing part of black beauty.Girls are switching it up by adding funky braids, long Afros and color to the traditional viewpoints of natural hair and making it fashion forward. Remember BET's hit reality show, Baldwin Hills? Well, I know you counted, at least, three ladies rocking what god gave them instead of a perm.
One of those ladies include Gerren Taylor, who was been shaking up the runway since the age of three with her luscious texture and shining dark complexion.

Willie, the golden-hued optimist, let her multi-texture coif shined, in all its natural glory. I know you, too, were fighting the urge to envy her lovely locks.

Stacy was the hood-tough girl who made natural hair effortless. Every time she hit the scene, she was rocking a new 'do.

The versatility and low-maintenance of natural hair is its biggest appeal. You don't have to worry about constantly replenishing protein that was diminished during the relaxer process. You can also go from curly to straight, braided to loose, Afro to blown-out with ease. This month, we are dedicating the board to the care and appreciation of kinky hair. Don't be afraid of your new growth, and seriously consider going natural. Put the hot comb down and let your true beauty free.
