DIY: hair bows

Hair bows, the classic accessory for little girls, has displayed all of the models to the fashion-forward socialite. To get in on this trend (and to avoid expensive designer frames), try making your own. All you need is tape, undecorated hair clip / barrette, scissors and a glue gun.

Satin ribbon is smooth and shiny on one side (one-faced) or both sides (double-faced). Avoid red and green, if you do not want to look like a Christmas present.

Grosgrain ribbon is quite thick, and has diagonal ribbing. They are crisp and the pan well.

Broadband strip form is great, because they have small threads sewn into their edges. They can be cast if they are broken or loose its shape.

Directions
With your band choices, making two loops, in an “eight”. Do not cut anything yet. Take the long end of the band (which is still hanging in the rest of the roll) and to a third loop which passes over the center of your bow. Then, make the last loop, passing back over the center. You should now have two interlaced figure eights.

Pinch center of the arc to create a sharp shape. Secure it. You can do this by tying a short piece of ribbon around the middle, turning a little wire around it, or sew it into place. Trim the excess tape / wire / wire and cut the ends into neat, diagonal lines.

Attach the bow in her hair clip or barrette with a dab of hot melt adhesives.
