Okay, okay so I went to someone who does hair to get braids done. I couldn’t see getting all of this hair in box braids by myself! I found someone without a license who would do individual braids for $65. She did a GREAT job, too! She’s also natural and does her own hair, which was nice. I just couldn’t stop touching my new growth so I figured making it untouchable would help me out. I’m going to try and keep them for a month, get the edges redone, and keep them another month. Two months altogether, as long as the summer doesn’t make my hair grow faster. At that point I’ll have about 19 weeks of new growth and hopefully I can get a good idea of what my hair texture looks like. I’m sure it’s 4b, but everyone’s hair is different, even within hair types.

I also think I’ve finally decided to do the BC after 18 months. Hubby isn’t happy about me having short hair for a while, but he said he wants me to be happy and my hair to be healthy. I think it will be for the best. Who knows? I might change my mind and transition without the BC. Anyways, the braids are great! They took 14 hours, though (including lunch and breaks)! The braider said that it took longer than the average time because my hair is really thick. I told her not to be afraid to say I have a big head! I know I do! Here are some pictures:
