Call it extreme narcissism or sheer insanity, but celebrities have this uncanny way of infiltrating themselves into every aspect of our everyday lives. They assume we want to dress like them, wear our hair like them, and now smell like them. While some of the scents can be a nasal assault and flop into the cosmetic abyss (i.e., Sarah Jessica Parker's "Lovely"), some go on to be beauty staples (Britney Spears, J.Lo and Kimora Lee' entire collection of fragrances).
The holiday season of 2008 can invoke a mad spike in sales for some of the pop icons, or cause them to waddle home with their tails between their legs. I'm giving you the lowdown on the latests scents; are they even worth purchasing and which one gives the K.O. to the competition.Check Out the Celebrity Scents at FragranceNet.com
BELIEVE BRITNEY SPEARS by Britney Spears for WOMEN
Linden Blossom, Tangerine, Honeysuckle, Amber, Praline, Patchouli
Some might call this Britney's best fragrance yet. I think I'm going to have to be to differ. While I love the candy-crusted notes in her line of perfumes, I feel this one takes it a bit too far. Very sweet, with citrus-y notes-- in fact, it smells like Sweet Tarts. This scent might for work a crowd who still think its cool to stake outside MTV studios for tickets to TRL, don't expect your the rest in your Psych lecture to take you serious with this one on.
Fairy Dust By Paris Hilton
blossom, spring gardenia, vanilla cream, peach nectar, water lily, cashmere musk, sparkling prosecco accord, sueded patchouli
A little less muted than the Believe, Fairy Dust delivers a mature and feminine scent that lingers in the room without being obtrusive. Its very soft with a whimsical touch, almost like baby powder-scented deodorant. I find this perfume to be very sexy and enticing, perfect for Paris's club-hopping personality. My only concern with its lasting power. Will this one stand up to hot liquored breath and sweaty bodies in the club or should I not even use this after I leave the boardroom? Either way, I would've never thought for a second that Paris Hilton was capable of concocting this. Good job.
Fancy, Jessica Simpson
amber crystals, apricot nectar, pear, gardenia, jasmine, caramel, vanilla crème, sandalwood, red fruits, toasted almonds
Contrary to its name, I found this to be universally flattering. It is definitely sweet without the overkill. I can actually pinpoint every note in this fragrance, from the vanilla to the jasmine, to the apricot. I would probably purchase this out of all the others. Its not as mature as Paris Hilton Fairy Dust and not as childish as Believe by Britney Spears. I can see myself wearing this on a picnic or a carriage ride on Central Park. Definitely reminds me of butterfly kisses and cookies. Perfect gift for a girlfriend or even a B.F.F.
