This ain't your snooty Ballerina poof. On this year's catwalk, we saw designer vamp up the chicest hairstyle in the book. Some were soft and loose, while others were taut enough to give the models a facelift. While the bun can be a beneficial protective style, the stress of pulling on the hair can recede one's hair line.
- If you feel your facial muscles pulling stretching when pulling your hair into a bun, you're probably made your base too tight.
- Wash your hair regularly with a shampoo that keeps the hair supple and strong. Moisture is key component in hair health, but protein will keep the hair from breaking from styling. Products geared towards consumers who color their hair contain the perfect balance for resilience.
- Use a moisturizing styling lotion to slick hair back. Do not use gel!
- Use the long end of a rattail comb to smooth the hair into place.
- Don't be afraid to add unconventional color contrast, different textures and extensions for extra fullness.
- Get creative with ponytail holders: try butterflies, flowers and funky shapes. Even designer logos can bring a touch of class to an old-fashioned bun.
- Coil it! Twist the hair while rolling it into a bun. Secure with bobby pins.
