Shear Genius Recap 3: Ep.3
This week's challenge was remarkable. For the Short Cut Challenge, the contestants had to style the longest hair they'd ever seen. I cannot say I wasn't disappointed that they didn't have black woman. I kept wondering if they didn't look for one simply because they "knew" she wouldn't qualify or if they would assume it was a weave. But, realistically speaking, how often do you see black women on Shear Genius? Hardly ever. Guest judges were Campbell McAuley(most noted for styling Lindsay Lohan and Katherine Heigl), Mark Townsend (Cate Blanchett and Penelope Cruz) and Allison Sweeney. Let me know why they didn't choose a black woman in the comments below.
Charlie first recieved criticism for making the hair seem to bridal. With that tidbit, we ruffled it up and put texture in this high-rising bun. He said his inspiration was Audrey Hepburn. I loved this one! Its very wearable, yet effortlessly chic.
Daniel had a client with amazing beautiful hair. I'm not so sure if I liked what he did with it, but the technical aspect was beautiful. This lady had gorgeous hair considering how long it was.
Dee could've done more with her hair. Very blah!
This looks much cuter from the back. I love the braids and the flowers. It reminds me of a Hawaiian Hula girl from the 40's.
Matthew actually won for this one. Somehow, I didn't like it too much.
Nekisa swore up and down that she didn't have enough time. Trust me, Flavor Flav could've even conjure up more time to save this disaster. A hot, hot mess if I ever choked on one in my life. Looking like Black Hawk Down...
Once again, more bullshit ass excuses from Nicole. For someone so snotty she sure cannot style hair to save her life. Whether or not the woman's hair was thin is irrelevant. This was just tacky. Tacky! She looks like Jungle Jane snooping around for Tarzan.
This was fabulous. Simple elegant and sleek. It was the little details throughout the hair that feel set the tone. The braid added the perfect touch to this bun. Paolo did a great job.
Do you even need to know who did this? I didn't think so, either.
In the second half of the show, the contestants had to pick a dress. The client who chose the same dress was who they would style that night for a red carpet event. The challenge was to see who's hair would hold up all throughout the night.
Simply gorgeous. The woman and the hair.
This was very cute too. It went wonderfully with the dress.
Not feeling the textured bangs.

Matthew didn't listen to his client when she said that curls wouldn't hold. So, by the time she got off the red carpet, her hair was flat. Unfortunately, the shortcut didn't save him... He went home.
The mad hatter. That is all.
