So, I have to give a big shout-out to Gables Beauty Supply in Fort Lauderdale, Forida.
Majority of the products featured here were purchased at this store, including the DevaCare, M.O.P. and Redken. This week was their annual sale event with a huge party.
The place was packed with free samples and brilliant advice from reps for wonderful hair care lines, such as Phyto and Phytospecific, Moroccan Oil, and Ojon.
A Nioxin sales rep was the first to approach me. He let me know of the clients he treated with Nioxin and how damaged the hair was.One story was of a lady who took micro-braids out of her head and probably by the time she took them out she was bald. Seriously, the look on his face spoke volumes about the poor condition of this woman's hair. But he said it started to grow back right away with Nioxin.
Nioxin works by stimulating the hair follicles, providing the perfect scalp environment and removing DHT, a chemical that cause the thinning of hair.
One of the samples I received was the Smoothing Reflectives Silk Elixir, a leave-in conditioner. I tried it out Friday night and it did leave my hair incredibly soft. Like, seriously... silky soft.
However, my hair didn't exactly feel moisturized once it dried. Something about my hair didn't feel exactly right. It was the sort of product one would use with another moisturizer on top.
I also found that when I put it on my dry ends they instantly softened. Sometimes you have to play with a leave-in conditioner to get the best results. Maybe if I added a little more Castor Oil to this it might be the perfect leave-in.
But, with the way I see it: I have to spend twelve dollars and still have to tweak the product just to moisture ? Kind of not fair. Leave-ins are supposed to be fast-working and easy to use. Whats the ease in having to alter a product to perfection?
I'm not exactly sure if I would buy this on its own. Maybe when my new growth gets completely out of control and I cannot comb through them that I might reconsider this product again.
