A breakthrough in fashion. Major chain conglomerate, Old Navy, ripped the standards apart by not only featuring a black African model, but placing her as the heroine and love interest in an interracial relationship.
While the rest of the glamorous world has decided to call a "white-out," Old Navy--known for it's affordable and trendy American sportswear and the brand's quirky commericals--decided to come hard with the strongest political statement the Haute world refused to declare.
Her skin is so dark and smooth it resembles chocolate. Her eyes are the size of large pearls gleaming brightly. I think she's more beautiful than most of these half-dead bodies on the runways and in the magazines. She brings back the 1980s feel of the next big Supermodel.
In this campy commerical for Old Navy, she shows off their new collection of prints while posing in her boudoir's mirror, the streets and smiling with a handsome white male. It's an echo for social change that is bridging the gap between two races with great strife in this country.
Black beauty + American camp= diverse love. Aw....
Correction: The model featured in the ad is not Oluchi, but Nina Keita from the Ivory Coast.
